Moray Council
Moray Council forms part of the North East Scotland Biodiversity Partnership.
The diversity of habitats and species in Moray contribute towards our high quality environment. Moray has a number of international, national and local conservation area sites and is home to a number of iconic protected species. These are valuable assets that need to be protected from inappropriate development.
Our land and natural resources support the economy through agriculture, forestry, fisheries, tourism and sporting estates.
It is recognised that biodiversity is crucial to: attracting investment, marketing of our food and drink, and also creating places with distinctive local character in which people want to live, work and visit. Good biodiversity creates places that promote well-being, productivity, educational benefits and places where communities can actively engage with their local environment.
