Nature in North East Scotland Seminar – Video Sessions & Highlights

Watch inspiring talks from the Nature in North East Scotland seminar sharing real biodiversity projects, community action & nature recovery.

Nature in North East Scotland: A Day of Inspiration, Connection and Action for Biodiversity

Across North East Scotland, communities, land managers, conservation organisations and volunteers are working every day to help nature recover. Our recent Nature in North East Scotland: Connected, Expanded, Resilient, Protected seminar with co-hosts NESCAN Hub. brought these stories together in one place. Showcasing real, practical action already happening across our region.

We are excited to share the four full video sessions from the day, now available to watch on YouTube. Each session highlights local projects, inspiring speakers and nature‑positive solutions that anyone can learn from. We hope these talks spark ideas, encourage collaboration, and show just how much is already being achieved for biodiversity in our corner of Scotland.

We’d also like to apologise for the sound quality in some recordings. This has been fed back to the venue so future events can further improve accessibility and clarity.

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of our speakers, our stallholders, our attendees and, of course, our co‑hosts NESCAN Hub. Thank you all for contributing your time, expertise and energy to such a meaningful day. Without you joining us for this, none of us could protect nature in North East Scotland.

🌱 Session 1 — Inspiring Connections With Nature

Session 1 introduces the foundations of the day: an introduction to the NESBiP Big 5, why recording wildlife matters, how insects connect us with nature, and the importance of community-led climate resilience. You’ll hear from NESBiP, NESCAN Hub, NESBReC and RSPB speakers who set the tone for the entire event. Highlighting how simple, meaningful actions can create long‑lasting ecological change.

🌿 Session 2 — Coasts, Communities and Conservation

This session focuses on the incredible work happening across our coastlines and communities. NatureScot, Greyhope Bay, East Grampian Coastal Partnership (EGCP) and Scottish Invasive Species Initiative share updates on seal conservation, coastal habitats, and invasive species management. These talks demonstrate how connected our ecosystems are and how collaborative action helps strengthen them.

🌾 Session 3 — Farming, Landscape‑Scale Action and Nature Networks

People across North East Scotland are actively shaping their landscapes through practical, on‑the‑ground action. In this session, Moray Farm Cluster, SRUC, MorayCAN and Moray Council show how nature‑friendly farming, green jobs and local nature networks are being built from the ground up.

🌳 Session 4 — Wellbeing, Freshwater Species and Nature‑Based Solutions

Our final session explored how nature supports wellbeing and how conservation groups are protecting freshwater species. With insights from NatureFix, EGCP, National Trust of Scotland (NTS) and RSPB, this session demonstrates the human side of conservation, reminding us that when we care for nature, it cares for us in return.

💬 Why These Stories Matter

Together, these sessions capture the energy, ambition and commitment of people across the North East. They reflect what NESBiP stands for: supporting local action, strengthening partnerships and empowering everyone to play a part in restoring biodiversity.

By sharing these videos, we hope others will feel inspired to:

  • start a community nature project
  • record local wildlife
  • improve habitats on farmland or greenspaces
  • get involved with local conservation groups
  • learn more about the nature on their doorstep

Change happens when we learn from one another — and when we take action together.
